LAWMA HOLDS WORLD CLEAN-UP DAY AT ILASHE

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), has commemorated the 2021 World Clean-up Day, along with a network of corporate bodies NGOs and governmental organizations, during which 75000 plastic bottles, weighing 1,250 kilogrammes, was harvested, along a 5-kilometre distance of Ilashe/Ibeshe beach, in the outskirts of Lagos. Organizations at the event include: Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance, FIBRA, an umbrella body for about twenty food and beverage manufacturing companies. Others are Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA); Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), Nigerian Ports Authority and Lagos Ferry Service among others. 𝐋𝐀𝐖𝐌𝐀 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐩 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞 Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) will commence a special clean up exercise within its four operational districts, over the next one month, in a bid to crank up on the existential waste challenges in the state and to sensitize the people on proper waste disposal, so as to ensure a cleaner Lagos. According to a release by the organisation, the exercise would commence on Thursday, 2nd September, 2021, at each district, starting with the West District, followed by East, Central and Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) respectively, where, according to the statement, two black spots will be identified, diligently and decisively cleaned up.
