While these are genuine concerns, they represent only the visible symptoms of a much deeper challenge—the absence of professionalism in the management of waste. Waste management is not merely about collecting refuse and transporting it to a dumpsite. It is a specialized profession that combines environmental science, engineering, public health, logistics, technology, policy, and behavioural change.
