Bank Donates Staff Bus To LAWMA

Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), today unveiled a brand new 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus, for staff transportation, donated to the agency by LOTUS Bank, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

In his brief speech, the Managing Director/ CEO of LAWMA, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, lauded the gesture, describing it as first of its kind, for a financial institution to donate a vehicle for conveying the Authority’s staff to and from work.

He said, "To you, it might look like a token, but to us, it means a lot. This staff bus will relieve our staff members of transportation hassles. On behalf of both our junior and adhoc staff, we appreciate you and we look forward to more partnership with you".

Responding, the Divisional Head, Corporate Services of the bank, Mr. Funso Tooki, stated that the gesture was borne out of the company's vision to make environmental and social impact in their communities of operation.

"We were able to identify the Authority's need and we felt LAWMA staff need to enjoy a dedicated transport service, to take them to and from work. We also want to be a green bank, hence our interest in LAWMA”, he said.

Mr. Tooki assured that the bank would continue to collaborate with the Authority, as it worked towards achieving cleaner and sustainable environment in Lagos State.

...As the Environment Commissioner Conducts a Tour of Major Dumpsites The Lagos State Government publicly announced over the weekend its commitment to adopting strategic initiatives aimed at improving waste disposal and waste management practices. Following a tour of the primary dumpsites at Olusosun and Soluos 3, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, stated to the media that the government remains steadfast in its resolve to provide Lagosians with a sustainable and operational environment.
